The Board of the Dairy Research Trust has agreed to fund a programme to increase dairy profitability and sustainability which will be carried out by Teagasc between 2017 and 2021. This follows consultations which included a review of the previous 5 year programme, the current needs and plans of the sector and takes account of the new challenges which will face the industry in future.
Leading up to this agreement, the Board of the Dairy Research reviewed the objectives and processes for putting in place a new programme.

The Board of the Dairy Research Trust held its quarterly meeting in Moorepark on 17th July 2015. In addition to it’s Board business, it received a detailed briefing from Pat Dillon and Padraig French on the progress of the Production Research Programme which it is funding.
There was very encouraging feedback on the trials involving the use of clover in pastures, and this is being further investigated on a variety of farms in different soil types and conditions. The Dairy Research Trust announces that it will operate under the name ‘Dairy Research Ireland’. This operating name was chosen so that reflects the link between the money contributed by dairy farmers and its allocation to dairy research. At the same time, the Board announced the launch of its new website, and logo.
